Kara Hill is a transformative leader with over 25 years of experience guiding nonprofit organizations and health systems through the implementation of innovative strategies and programs. She specializes in strategic transformation, change management, workforce development, and system integration, ensuring organizations evolve to better serve their communities.
A champion for community health and well-being, Kara believes that those most impacted by systemic challenges must be at the forefront of shaping sustainable solutions. Her approach fosters collaborative leadership, cross-sector partnerships, and equitable decision-making, ensuring that change is not only innovative but also community-driven and enduring.
Throughout her career, Kara has led community-based organizations and charitable clinics, spearheaded behavioral health integration into primary care, developed workforce strategies, and supported efforts to advance value-based care models. She has played a critical role in developing frameworks that help organizations navigate complex transitions, align stakeholders, and operationalize equity-driven strategies.
Kara serves on several advisory groups, including the Texas Health and Human Services Behavioral Health Workforce Subcommittee, where she collaborates with policymakers, providers, and community organizations to shape workforce policy and expand access to care. She also co-leads the Greater Houston Maternal Behavioral Health Roundtable, facilitating shared learning and collaboration to improve maternal health outcomes.
Currently, Kara is the Senior Director of Health Integration at Texas Health Institute (THI), where she works to align governance, financing, data, community engagement, and service delivery to drive health system transformation.
She holds a Doctorate in Health Administration (DHA) from Oklahoma State University, a Master of Health Administration (MHA) from Texas A&M University, and a Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW) from Bowling Green State University.
